The National Institute of Early Childcare Education Pty Ltd ("NIECE") is committed to safeguarding the privacy of its students and staff.

This statement is provided to make you aware of how NIECE collects, uses and manages information obtained from its students and staff.

Collection of Personal Information
The only information NIECE collects from its webpage (http://www.childcaretraining.com.au/) on the website of A.B.C. Learning Centres (http://www.childcare.com.au/) other than communications you send to it via this medium, is statistical in nature.  No data that might allow a person to be identified, or his/her internet activities to be traced, is collected.

Apart from that statistical data, NIECE only collects information that is relevant to the learning environment, the progress of a student’s studies, the welfare of students and staff, to manage its business and to continuously monitor and improve the quality of its educational products and services.

Each campus retains some paper based records that are relevant to the day to day operations of NIECE there.  Other paper based records are maintained at Head Office.  Some records are stored centrally electronically.

Where it is possible to do so, NIECE collects information directly from the students and staff.  Sometimes it may need to collect information from others, such as medical professionals, family members or friend, and government authorities.

If you do not wish NIECE to collect particular information about you, speak with your Trainer or Director of Studies.  The Trainer or Director of Studies will consult with the Privacy Officer on the matter.

Use and Disclosure
NIECE will not disclose personal information collected to a third party unconnected with a student’s training or the welfare of students and staff without their consent, unless there is a legal requirement to do so.

Other than with the consent of a student or staff, NIECE will only use or disclose information in circumstances when that person would reasonably contemplate its use for or around the learning environment, the progress of a student’s studies, the welfare of students and staff, the management of its business and to monitor and improve the quality of its educational products and services.

Access and Correction
Students and staff may request access to their own personal information. Some personal details can be accessed electronically by students and altered by them directly. Ordinarily, NIECE will require you to make a request for access to other personal information in writing, directed to the Privacy Officer identified at the end of this statement.  NIECE may charge a search and processing fee in some circumstances.

If you believe that our record of the personal information of yourself is incorrect, you should tell us and NIECE will correct it if you are unable to access it electronically and correct it yourself.

In some circumstances, such as where to do so might put a person at risk of harm, NIECE may decline access to personal information.  If your request for access is denied, NIECE will tell you why.
